The Château de Cheverny welcomes school groups and day camps for an unforgettable visit.

In an exceptional setting, children discover the classical architecture of the Loire Valley, gardens and the world of Tintin through an interactive exhibition entitled The Secrets of Marlinspike Hall.

The suggested itineraries combine cultural discovery, historical immersion and moments of relaxation in the heart of the park. Educational fact sheets are available to help teachers and activity leaders prepare for the visit.

The Secrets of Marlinspike Hall

An interactive and entertaining exhibition covering 700 m²

Permanent exhibition

Cheverny served as Hergé's model for drawing Marlinspike Hall.
Through this colourful exhibition, Tintin, Haddock and Professor Calculus relive, in life size, the events that took place in this legendary castle.

A visit to the castle will bring back memories: the staircase, the armoury... See them in life-size form as you visit the exhibition. The telephone rings, you have become Nestor, you must answer! Throughout the 700 m² of interactive displays, you will relive the events that took place in the comic strip.

The Château: a unique place to delight young and old alike

The estate has been in the same family for six centuries, and the château is still inhabited by the Marquis and Marchioness of Vibraye and their children.

It was the first château to open its doors to the public in 1922.

The park and gardens

Enjoy our picnic areas (covered or open-air) with your pupils for a relaxing break in the heart of the park, and take advantage of the exceptional surroundings along the canal, where numerous ducks will add to your enjoyment of the estate.

Duration of visit:

Park and gardens: 45 minutes
Electric car and boat tour: 30 minutes

Lunch at the Cheverny estate

Two options are available depending on the time of year:

  • Picnic areas (under covered areas or outdoor tables) for a relaxing break in the heart of the park, where you can enjoy the exceptional surroundings along the canal.

  • The château's Orangery: this 18th-century building is heated and air-conditioned depending on the season. It offers an exceptional setting for a gourmet experience: homemade ice cream, pastries, savoury tarts, cold drinks, etc.

    The Orangerie café serves lunch between 12 noon and 3 pm.
