The essence of Cheverny: from the Grand Siècle to the world of Tintin
Do you have about three hours to explore Cheverny? Start with the must-see attractions: the château and gardens.
Inside the château: elegance and surprises
From the very first rooms, allow yourself to be charmed by the refinement of the period furniture and decorative arts that reflect the French art of living. Each room tells a story, and every detail has been carefully considered.
Depending on the season, the castle is decorated with themed decorations: floral decorations in spring, Christmas decorations in winter... And don't miss the large dining room: its table, often decorated, has many surprises in store for attentive visitors.
Here you can discover the estate throughout the seasons.
A stroll through the gardens
After visiting the interior, explore the exterior:
The plant maze, for the pleasure of getting lost for a moment
The garden of love, where Gudmar Olovson's statues celebrate tenderness and humanity
The sweet garden, with its 370 fruit trees.
Take the time to stroll, breathe, and contemplate.
Not to be missed: the apprentice garden and the bouquet and vegetable garden, with their varied atmospheres, rich in colours and scents.
On your way to the flower garden, you will pass by the kennel, which was established in 1850 for the dogs belonging to the Cheverny crew.
Two routes to choose from
Then, we suggest two options especially for a half-day visit: the exhibition The Secrets of Moulinsart or exploring the forest area by boat and electric car (from April to November).
The Secrets of Marlinspike Hall
Cheverny is inseparable from the world of Tintin: Hergé was inspired by its façade to create Marlinspike Hall, which first appeared in 1942 in The Secret of the Unicorn.
After exploring the rooms of the castle – the grand staircase, armoury, beautifully furnished drawing rooms and bedrooms – continue your visit with the immersive exhibition The Secrets of Marlinspike Hall.
Immerse yourself in the adventures of Tintin, Haddock and Calculus in a 700 m² space featuring life-size figures.
Become Nestor for the duration of a phone call, explore iconic settings and relive cult scenes from the comic strip.
On your way out, if you haven't already done so, head to the estate's gardens to extend the experience: Professor Calculus would have loved to stroll between the apprentices' garden, the orchard and the romantic garden of love.
⏳ Estimated duration of the visit: 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes
🎟️ Purchase the Château and Gardens + Secrets of Moulinsart ticket.
Discovering the forest park by boat and electric car
Fancy some history, gardens and nature? This route invites you to discover Cheverny in the open air, ideal for sunny days.
After visiting the castle and gardens, change pace and hop aboard electric cars and boats, accompanied by a guide, to explore the forest part of the estate.
In this unspoilt area, you can admire:
the majestic avenue of 157 cedars.
the Louisiana bald cypresses, which grow with their feet in the water and are adorned with flamboyant colours in autumn.
💡 Tip: in autumn, bald cypress trees offer a striking spectacle, ideal for photography enthusiasts.
⚠️ Only possible from April to November
⏳ Estimated duration of the visit: 2 hours 30 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes
🎟️ Purchase the Château and Gardens ticket + guided tour of the grounds by electric boat and car.
These two itineraries allow you to fully enjoy the estate in half a day, depending on your preferences: immerse yourself in the world of Tintin or escape to the heart of nature.
