A magical Christmas in Cheverny!
In the heart of the Loire Valley, the Château de Cheverny invites you to experience a magical and traditional Christmas, where the magic of the festive season brings back childhood memories. Enhanced by decorations in every room and garden, Cheverny is the perfect destination for families and children looking for a moment of wonder.
Christmas at Cheverny Castle: an institution for nearly 30 years!
And every year, new decorations and displays welcome visitors to the gardens and all the rooms of the castle, as well as to the Orangery and the Trophy Room.
Decorations in every garden
Christmas trees, giant baubles, gingerbread men and elves take over the gardens. The main driveway is lined with dozens of decorated Christmas trees leading up to the castle. In front of the entrance, a huge Advent wreath is installed and its giant candles are lit at nightfall. On the lawns, a giant Christmas tree stands 30 metres tall!
New this year, the Advent calendar takes the form of the House of Elves!
The estate lights up as soon as night falls.
From late afternoon onwards, Christmas trees and giant light decorations light up in the gardens, while the castle façade comes alive with an enchanting show of animated projections (video mapping) from 5.30 pm onwards. And this year, the trees also come to life with light!
This ballet of lights and colours will enchant young and old alike and immerse you in the Christmas spirit with magical scenes combining poetry and tradition.
An experience not to be missed!
And while waiting for darkness to fall over the estate during the school holidays (from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. every day except Saturday), a kiosk will offer hot chocolate, mulled wine, soups, pancakes, waffles, and more.
Visiting tip: come visit in the late afternoon and stay until 6:45 p.m. to enjoy the illuminations.
Tip: If you arrive after 4:45 p.m., you can request a ticket for the light show only. It costs €9.50 (€8 for concessions).
Opening hours: to visit the castle, last admission at 5 p.m. (5.30 p.m. during school holidays). The estate closes at 6.45 p.m.
Inside the castle, every room celebrates Christmas.
After visiting the gardens, come and warm up in the castle, where a Christmas atmosphere awaits you. In 2025, new decorations will transport you into a warm and festive atmosphere. In the large dining room, for example, it's a gourmet Christmas with a majestic festive table laid out. Take the time to discover the themed decorations in each room.
New : the restored dome on the top floor will be illuminated.

A gourmet break at the Orangerie, in an enchanting setting
To prolong the pleasure, during school holidays only, the Orangery at the castle is the perfect place for a gourmet break and offers a special festive menu.
The chef and his teams offer seasonal dishes, as well as delicious hot chocolate, the house speciality!
Take a seat and enjoy the unique scenery on the stage.
A magical day with Father and Mother Christmas! (Date to be announced)
Father Christmas and Mother Christmas will be present at the estate and will make a spectacular arrival to the delight of young and old alike.
Then, there will be a gift distribution and a photocall in the trophy room, with Father Christmas, Mother Christmas and their elves in attendance. Everyone will be able to warm up before listening to the Île-de-France children's choir sing Christmas carols. Homemade hot chocolate and mulled wine will be available to warm you up gently.
