All of Cheverny for a varied and exotic day out
Do you have a whole day to explore Cheverny? Enjoy the freedom to discover all aspects of the estate: from Tintin to boating on the canal, not to mention the Grand Siècle!
Inside the château: elegance and surprises
This Loire Valley château, which has been inhabited by the same family for over six centuries, reveals its intimate details and architecture, from the Grand Siècle to the present day.
From the very first rooms, allow yourself to be charmed by the refinement of the period furniture and decorative arts that reflect the French art of living. Each room tells a story, and every detail has been carefully considered.
Depending on the season, the castle is decorated with themed decorations: floral decorations in spring, Christmas decorations in winter... And don't miss the large dining room: its table, often decorated, has many surprises in store for attentive visitors.
A stroll through the gardens
After visiting the château, explore the grounds:
The plant maze, for the pleasure of getting lost for a moment.
The garden of love, where Gudmar Olovson's statues celebrate tenderness and humanity.
The sweet garden, with its 370 fruit trees.
Don't miss: the apprentices' garden and the vegetable garden, with their varied atmospheres, rich in colours and scents. On your way to the bouquet garden, you will also pass by the kennel, created in 1850 for the dogs of the Cheverny crew.
The Secrets of Marlinspike Hall exhibition
Cheverny is inseparable from the world of Tintin: Hergé was inspired by its façade to create Marlinspike Hall, which first appeared in 1942 in The Secret of the Unicorn.
Covering 700 m², the immersive exhibition Les Secrets de Moulinsart (The Secrets of Marlinspike Hall) immerses you in the Adventures of Tintin, Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus. Answer the phone in the captain's dining room, visit Tintin's bedroom, explore the iconic life-size sets and relive the cult scenes from the comic strip!
Discovering the forest park by boat and electric car
Hop aboard electric cars and boats (from April to November), accompanied by a guide, to explore the forest part of the estate.
Admire the majestic avenue lined with 157 cedar trees.
Be enchanted by the Louisiana bald cypress trees, which grow with their roots in the water and are adorned with flamboyant colours in autumn.
For half an hour, you will be transported to another world, in the heart of the Sologne region.
💡 Tip: in autumn, bald cypress trees offer a striking spectacle, ideal for photography enthusiasts.
A gourmet break at the Orangerie
During peak season and school holidays, treat yourself to a moment of relaxation at the Orangerie restaurant.
In a bright setting, pleasantly air-conditioned in summer, the chef and his team offer cuisine tailored to your desires: light refreshments to quickly resume your visit, or a delicious lunch to enjoy at your leisure. The daily specials change according to the produce available and the harvest from the vegetable garden.
⏳ Estimated duration of the visit: over 4 hours, excluding lunch.
